Chapters 18-22
Chapter 18
| 1) For the leader. Of the servant of the Lord, of David, who spoke to the Lord the words of this song on the day the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. And he said: |
א. לַמְנַצֵּחַ לְעֶבֶד־יְיָ לְדָוִד אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר לַייּ אֶת־דִּבְרֵי הַשִּׁירָה הַזֹּאת בְּיוֹם הִצִּיל־יְיָ אֹתוֹ מִכַּף כָּל־אֹיְבָיו וּמִיַּד שָׁאוּל וַיֹּאמַר |
| 2) I love You, O Lord, my strength. |
ב. אֶרְחָמְךָ יְיָ חִזְקִי |
| 3) The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield, the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. |
ג. יְיָ סַלְעִי וּמְצוּדָתִי וּמְפַלְטִי אֵלִי צוּרִי אֶחֱסֶה־בּוֹ מָגִנִּי וְקֶרֶן־יִשְׁעִי מִשְׂגַּבִּי |
| 4) Praised, I call upon the Lord, and from my enemies I am saved. |
ד. מְהֻלָּל אֶקְרָא יְיָ וּמִן־אֹיְבַי אִוָּשֵׁעַ |
| 5) The cords of death encompassed me, and torrents of destruction assailed me. |
ה. אֲפָפֻנִי חֶבְלֵי־מָוֶת וְנַחֲלֵי בְלִיַּעַל יְבַעֲתוּנִי |
| 6) The cords of Sheol surrounded me; the snares of death confronted me. |
ו. חֶבְלֵי שְׁאוֹל סְבָבוּנִי קִדְּמוּנִי מוֹקְשֵׁי מָוֶת |
| 7) In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, and my cry before Him came into His ears. |
ז. בַּצַּר־לִי אֶקְרָא יְיָ וְאֶל־אֱלֹהַי אֲשַׁוֵּעַ יִשְׁמַע מֵהֵיכָלוֹ קוֹלִי וְשַׁוְעָתִי לְפָנָיו תָּבוֹא בְאָזְנָיו |
| 8) Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of the mountains quaked and were shaken, because He was angry. |
ח. וַתִּגְעַשׁ וַתִּרְעַשׁ הָאָרֶץ וּמוֹסְדֵי הָרִים יִרְגָּזוּ וַיִּתְגָּעֲשׁוּ כִּי־חָרָה לוֹ |
| 9) Smoke went up from His nostrils, and fire from His mouth devoured; coals blazed forth from Him. |
ט. עָלָה עָשָׁן בְּאַפּוֹ וְאֵשׁ מִפִּיו תֹּאכֵל גֶּחָלִים בָּעֲרוּ מִמֶּנּוּ |
| 10) He bent the heavens and came down, thick darkness under His feet. |
י. וַיֵּט שָׁמַיִם וַיֵּרַד וַעֲרָפֶל תַּחַת רַגְלָיו |
| 11) He rode upon a cherub and flew; He soared on the wings of the wind. |
יא. וַיִּרְכַּב עַל־כְּרוּב וַיָּעֹף וַיֵּדֶא עַל־כַּנְפֵי־רוּחַ |
| 12) He made darkness His hiding place; around Him, His shelter—darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies. |
יב. יָשֶׁת חֹשֶׁךְ סִתְרוֹ סְבִיבוֹתָיו סֻכָּתוֹ חֶשְׁכַת־מַיִם עָבֵי שְׁחָקִים |
| 13) From the brightness before Him, through His thick clouds, came hailstones and coals of fire. |
יג. מִנֹּגַהּ נֶגְדּוֹ עָבָיו עָבְרוּ בָּרָד וְגַחֲלֵי־אֵשׁ |
| 14) The Lord thundered in the heavens; the Most High gave forth His voice—hailstones and coals of fire. |
יד. וַיַּרְעֵם בַּשָּׁמַיִם יְיָ וְעֶלְיוֹן יִתֵּן קוֹלוֹ בָּרָד וְגַחֲלֵי־אֵשׁ |
| 15) He sent out His arrows and scattered them; flashes of lightning in abundance, and He routed them. |
טו. וַיִּשְׁלַח חִצָּיו וַיְפִיצֵם וּבְרָקִים רָב וַיְהֻמֵּם |
| 16) Then the channels of waters were seen, the foundations of the world were laid bare, at Your rebuke, O Lord, at the blast of the breath of Your nostrils. |
טז. וַיֵּרָאוּ אֲפִיקֵי מַיִם וַיִּגָּלוּ מוֹסְדוֹת תֵּבֵל מִגַּעֲרָתְךָ יְיָ מִנִּשְׁמַת רוּחַ אַפֶּךָ |
| 17) He reached from on high, He took me; He drew me out of many waters. |
יז. יִשְׁלַח מִמָּרוֹם יִקָּחֵנִי יַמְשֵׁנִי מִמַּיִם רַבִּים |
| 18) He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from those who hated me, for they were too mighty for me. |
יח. יַצִּילֵנִי מֵאֹיְבִי עָז וּמִשֹּׂנְאַי כִּי אָמְצוּ מִמֶּנִּי |
| 19) They confronted me in the day of my calamity, but the Lord was my support. |
יט. יְקַדְּמוּנִי בְּיוֹם־אֵידִי וַיְהִי־יְיָ לְמִשְׁעָן לִי |
| 20) He brought me out into a broad place; He rescued me, because He delighted in me. |
כ. וַיּוֹצִיאֵנִי לַמֶרְחָב יַצִּילֵנִי כִּי־חָפֵץ בִּי |
| 21) The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands He repaid me. |
כא. יִגְמְלֵנִי יְיָ כְּצִדְקִי כְּבֹר יָדַי יָשִׁיב לִי |
| 22) For I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not wickedly departed from my God. |
כב. כִּי שָׁמַרְתִּי דַּרְכֵי יְיָ וְלֹא רָשַׁעְתִּי מֵאֱלֹהָי |
| 23) For all His ordinances were before me, and His statutes I did not turn away from me. |
כג. כִּי כָל־מִשְׁפָּטָיו לְנֶגְדִּי וְחֻקֹּתָיו לֹא־אָסִיר מֶנִּי |
| 24) I was blameless with Him, and I kept myself from my iniquity. |
כד. וָאֱהִי תָמִים עִמּוֹ וָאֶשְׁתַּמֵּר מֵעֲוֹנִי |
| 25) Therefore the Lord repaid me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in His sight. |
כה. וַיָּשֶׁב יְיָ לִי כְצִדְקִי כְּבֹר יָדַי לְנֶגֶד עֵינָיו |
| 26) With the merciful, You show Yourself merciful; with the blameless man, You show Yourself blameless. |
כו. עִם־חָסִיד תִּתְחַסָּד עִם־גְּבַר תָּמִים תִּתַּמָּם |
| 27) With the pure, You show Yourself pure; but with the crooked, You show Yourself shrewd. |
כז. עִם־נָבָר תִּתָּבָר וְעִם־עִקֵּשׁ תִּתְפַּתָּל |
| 28) For You save the humble people, but haughty eyes You bring down. |
כח. כִּי־אַתָּה עַם־עָנִי תוֹשִׁיעַ וְעֵינַיִם רָמוֹת תַּשְׁפִּיל |
| 29) For You light my lamp; the Lord my God brightens my darkness. |
כט. כִּי־אַתָּה תָּאִיר נֵירִי יְיָ אֱלֹהַי יַגִּיהַּ חָשְׁכִּי |
| 30) For by You I run against a troop; and by my God I leap over a wall. |
ל. כִּי־בְךָ אָרוּץ גְּדוּד וּבֵאלֹהַי אֲדַלֶּג־שׁוּר |
| 31) The way of God is perfect; the word of the Lord is refined; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. |
לא. הָאֵל תָּמִים דַּרְכּוֹ אִמְרַת־יְיָ צְרוּפָה מָגֵן הוּא לְכָל־הַחוֹסִים בוֹ |
| 32) For who is God except the Lord? And who is a rock, besides our God? |
לב. כִּי מִי אֱלוֹהַּ מִבַּלְעֲדֵי יְיָ וּמִי־צוּר זוּלָתִי אֱלֹהֵינוּ |
| 33) The God who girds me with strength, and makes my way perfect. |
לג. הָאֵל הַמְאַזְּרֵנִי חָיִל וַיִּתֵּן תָּמִים דַּרְכִּי |
| 34) He makes my feet like the deer’s, and sets me upon my high places. |
לד. מְשַׁוֶּה רַגְלַי כָּאַיָּלוֹת וְעַל־בָּמוֹתַי יַעֲמִידֵנִי |
| 35) He trains my hands for war, so that my arms bend a bow of bronze. |
לה. מְלַמֵּד יָדַי לַמִּלְחָמָה וְנִחֲתָה קֶשֶׁת נְחוּשָׁה זְרוֹעֹתָי |
| 36) You have given me the shield of Your salvation; Your right hand supports me, and Your humility makes me great. |
לו. וַתִּתֶּן־לִי מָגֵן יִשְׁעֶךָ וִימִינְךָ תִסְעָדֵנִי וְעַנְוַתְךָ תַרְבֵּנִי |
| 37) You broaden the path beneath me, so that my ankles did not slip. |
לז. תַּרְחִיב צַעֲדִי תַּחְתָּי וְלֹא מָעֲדוּ קַרְסֻלָּי |
| 38) I pursued my enemies and overtook them; I did not turn back till they were consumed. |
לח. אֶרְדֹּף אֹיְבַי וְאַשִּׂיגֵם וְלֹא אָשׁוּב עַד־כַּלּוֹתָם |
| 39) I crushed them so they could not rise; they fell under my feet. |
לט. אֶמְחָצֵם וְלֹא יוכלו קוּם יִפְּלוּ תַחַת רַגְלָי |
| 40) You girded me with strength for battle; You subdued under me those who rose against me. |
מ. וַתְּאַזְּרֵנִי חַיִל לַמִּלְחָמָה תַּכְרִיעַ קָמַי תַּחְתָּי |
| 41) You made my enemies turn their backs to me, and I destroyed those who hated me. |
מא. וְאֹיְבַי נָתַתָּה־לִּי עֹרֶף וּמְשַׂנְאַי אַצְמִיתֵם |
| 42) They cried for help, but there was none to save—even to the Lord, but He did not answer them. |
מב. יְשַׁוְּעוּ וְאֵין מוֹשִׁיעַ אֶל־יְיָ וְלֹא עָנָם |
| 43) Then I beat them as fine as dust before the wind; I cast them out like the mire of the streets. |
מג. וְאֶשְׁחָקֵם כְּעָפָר עַל־פְּנֵי־רוּחַ כְּטִיט חוּצוֹת אֲרִיקֵם |
| 44) You delivered me from the strivings of the people; You made me the head of nations; a people I had not known serve me. |
מד. תְּפַלְּטֵנִי מֵרִיבֵי־עָם תְּשִׂימֵנִי לְרֹאשׁ גּוֹיִם עַם לֹא־יָדַעְתִּי יַעַבְדוּנִי |
| 45) As soon as they hear of me, they obey me; foreigners submit themselves to me. |
מה. לְשֵׁמַע אֹזֶן יִשָּׁמְעוּ לִי בְּנֵי־נֵכָר יְכַחֲשׁוּ לִי |
| 46) Foreigners fade away, and come trembling from their strongholds. |
מו. בְּנֵי נֵכָר יִבֹּלוּ וְיַחְגְּרוּ מִמִּסְגְּרוֹתֵיהֶם |
| 47) The Lord lives! Blessed be my rock! Exalted be the God of my salvation! |
מז. חַי־יְיָ וּבָרוּךְ צוּרִי וְיָרוּם אֱלוֹהֵי יִשְׁעִי |
| 48) The God who gives me vengeance, and subdues peoples under me. |
מח. הָאֵל הַנּוֹתֵן נְקָמוֹת לִי וַיַּדְבֵּר עַמִּים תַּחְתָּי |
| 49) He delivers me from my enemies; yes, You lift me above those who rise against me; You rescue me from the man of violence. |
מט. מְפַלְּטִי מֵאֹיְבָי אַף מִן־קָמַי תְּרוֹמְמֵנִי מֵאִישׁ חָמָס תַּצִּילֵנִי |
| 50) Therefore I will thank You among the nations, O Lord, and sing praises to Your name. |
נ. עַל־כֵּן אוֹדְךָ בַגּוֹיִם יְיָ וּלְשִׁמְךָ אֲזַמֵּר |
| 51) He gives great salvation to His king, and shows mercy to His anointed, to David and to his seed forevermore. |
נא. מַגְדִּל יְשׁוּעוֹת מַלְכּוֹ וְעֹשֶׂה חֶסֶד לִמְשִׁיחוֹ לְדָוִד וּלְזַרְעוֹ עַד־עוֹלָם |
Chapter 19
| 1) For the conductor. A psalm of David. |
א. לַמְנַצֵּחַ מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד |
| 2) The heavens declare the glory of God; the sky proclaims the work of His hands. |
ב. הַשָּׁמַיִם מְסַפְּרִים כְּבוֹד־אֵל וּמַעֲשֵׂה יָדָיו מַגִּיד הָרָקִיעַ |
| 3) Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. |
ג. יוֹם לְיוֹם יַבִּיעַ אֹמֶר וְלַיְלָה לְלַיְלָה יְחַוֶּה־דָּעַת |
| 4) There is no speech, and there are no words; their voice is not heard. |
ד. אֵין־אֹמֶר וְאֵין דְּבָרִים בְּלִי נִשְׁמָע קוֹלָם |
| 5) Their line has gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. For the sun He set a tent among them. |
ה. בְּכָל־הָאָרֶץ יָצָא קַוָּם וּבִקְצֵה תֵבֵל מִלֵּיהֶם לַשֶּׁמֶשׁ שָׂם־אֹהֶל בָּהֶם |
| 6) And it is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber; it rejoices as a strong man to run his course. |
ו. וְהוּא כְּחָתָן יֹצֵא מֵחֻפָּתוֹ יָשִׂישׂ כְּגִבּוֹר לָרוּץ אֹרַח |
| 7) Its rising is from one end of the heavens, and its circuit to the other end; and nothing is hidden from its heat. |
ז. מִקְצֵה הַשָּׁמַיִם מוֹצָאוֹ וּתְקוּפָתוֹ עַל־קְצוֹתָם וְאֵין נִסְתָּר מֵחַמָּתוֹ |
| 8) The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul; the testimony of the Lord is faithful, making the simple wise. |
ח. תּוֹרַת יְיָ תְּמִימָה מְשִׁיבַת נָפֶשׁ עֵדוּת יְיָ נֶאֱמָנָה מַחְכִּימַת פֶּתִי |
| 9) The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. |
ט. פִּקּוּדֵי יְיָ יְשָׁרִים מְשַׂמְּחֵי־לֵב מִצְוַת יְיָ בָּרָה מְאִירַת עֵינָיִם |
| 10) The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the judgments of the Lord are true; they are righteous altogether. |
י. יִרְאַת יְיָ טְהוֹרָה עוֹמֶדֶת לָעַד מִשְׁפְּטֵי יְיָ אֱמֶת צָדְקוּ יַחְדָּו |
| 11) More desirable than gold, than much fine gold; and sweeter than honey, and drippings of the comb. |
יא. הַנֶּחֱמָדִים מִזָּהָב וּמִפַּז רָב וּמְתוּקִים מִדְּבַשׁ וְנֹפֶת צוּפִים |
| 12) Moreover, by them Your servant is warned; in keeping them there is great reward. |
יב. גַּם־עַבְדְּךָ נִזְהָר בָּהֶם בְּשָׁמְרָם עֵקֶב רָב |
| 13) Who can discern his errors? Cleanse me from hidden faults. |
יג. שְׁגִיאוֹת מִי־יָבִין מִנִּסְתָּרוֹת נַקֵּנִי |
| 14) Also keep back Your servant from willful sins; let them not rule over me. Then I shall be blameless, and I shall be innocent of great transgression. |
יד. גַּם מִזֵּדִים חֲשֹׂךְ עַבְדֶּךָ אַל־יִמְשְׁלוּ־בִי אָז אֵיתָם וְנִקֵּיתִי מִפֶּשַׁע רָב |
| 15) Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable before You, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. |
טו. יִהְיוּ לְרָצוֹן אִמְרֵי־פִי וְהֶגְיוֹן לִבִּי לְפָנֶיךָ יְיָ צוּרִי וְגֹאֲלִי |
Chapter 20
| 1) For the conductor. A psalm of David. |
א. לַמְנַצֵּחַ מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד |
| 2) May the Lord answer you on the day of distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you. |
ב. יַעַנְךָ יְיָ בְּיוֹם צָרָה יְשַׂגֶּבְךָ שֵׁם אֱלֹהֵי יַעֲקֹב |
| 3) May He send your help from the sanctuary, and support you from Zion. |
ג. יִשְׁלַח־עֶזְרְךָ מִקֹּדֶשׁ וּמִצִּיּוֹן יִסְעָדֶךָּ |
| 4) May He remember all your offerings, and accept with favor your burnt sacrifice. Selah. |
ד. יִזְכֹּר כָּל־מִנְחֹתֶךָ וְעוֹלָתְךָ יְדַשְּׁנָה סֶּלָה |
| 5) May He grant you according to your heart, and fulfill all your plans. |
ה. יִתֶּן־לְךָ כִלְבָבֶךָ וְכָל־עֲצָתְךָ יְמַלֵּא |
| 6) We will sing for joy in your salvation, and in the name of our God we will raise our banners; may the Lord fulfill all your requests. |
ו. נְרַנְּנָה בִישׁוּעָתֶךָ וּבְשֵׁם אֱלֹהֵינוּ נִדְגֹּל יְמַלֵּא יְיָ כָּל־מִשְׁאֲלוֹתֶיךָ |
| 7) Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heavens with the mighty acts of the salvation of His right hand. |
ז. עַתָּה יָדַעְתִּי כִּי־הוֹשִׁיעַ יְיָ מְשִׁיחוֹ יַעֲנֵהוּ מִשְּׁמֵי קָדְשׁוֹ בִּגְבוּרוֹת יֵשַׁע יְמִינוֹ |
| 8) Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we call upon the name of the Lord our God. |
ח. אֵלֶּה בָרֶכֶב וְאֵלֶּה בַסּוּסִים וַאֲנַחְנוּ בְּשֵׁם יְיָ אֱלֹהֵינוּ נַזְכִּיר |
| 9) They collapse and fall, but we have risen and stand upright. |
ט. הֵמָּה כָּרְעוּ וְנָפָלוּ וַאֲנַחְנוּ קַמְנוּ וַנִּתְעוֹדָד |
| 10) Lord, save! May the King answer us on the day we call. |
י. יְיָ הוֹשִׁיעָה הַמֶּלֶךְ יַעֲנֵנוּ בְיוֹם־קָרְאֵנוּ |
Chapter 21
| 1) For the conductor. A psalm of David. |
א. לַמְנַצֵּחַ מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד |
| 2) O Lord, in Your strength the king rejoices; and in Your salvation, how greatly he exults! |
ב. יְיָ בְעָזְּךָ יִשְׂמַח־מֶלֶךְ וּבִישׁוּעָתְךָ מַה־יָּגֵל מְאֹד |
| 3) You have given him his heart’s desire, and the request of his lips You have not withheld. Selah. |
ג. תַּאֲוַת לִבּוֹ נָתַתָּה־לוֹ וַאֲרֶשֶׁת שְׂפָתָיו בַּל־מָנַעְתָּ סֶּלָה |
| 4) For You meet him with blessings of goodness; You set on his head a crown of fine gold. |
ד. כִּי־תְקַדְּמֶנּוּ בִּרְכוֹת טוֹב תָּשִׁית לְרֹאשׁוֹ עֲטֶרֶת פָּז |
| 5) He asked life of You; You gave it to him, length of days forever and ever. |
ה. חַיִּים שָׁאַל מִמְּךָ נָתַתָּה־לוֹ אֹרֶךְ יָמִים עוֹלָם וָעֶד |
| 6) Great is his glory through Your salvation; majesty and splendor You bestow upon him. |
ו. גָּדוֹל כְּבוֹדוֹ בִּישׁוּעָתֶךָ הוֹד וְהָדָר תְּשַׁוֶּה עָלָיו |
| 7) For You make him most blessed forever; You make him glad with joy in Your presence. |
ז. כִּי־תְשִׁיתֵהוּ בְרָכוֹת לָעַד תְּחַדֵּהוּ בְשִׂמְחָה אֶת־פָּנֶיךָ |
| 8) For the king trusts in the Lord, and through the kindness of the Most High he shall not be moved. |
ח. כִּי־הַמֶּלֶךְ בֹּטֵחַ בַּי־יָ וּבְחֶסֶד עֶלְיוֹן בַּל־יִמּוֹט |
| 9) Your hand will find out all Your enemies; Your right hand will find those who hate You. |
ט. תִּמְצָא יָדְךָ לְכָל־אֹיְבֶיךָ יְמִינְךָ תִּמְצָא שֹׂנְאֶיךָ |
| 10) You will make them as a fiery furnace at the time of Your appearance; the Lord in His anger will swallow them up, and fire will consume them. |
י. תְּשִׁיתֵמוֹ כְּתַנּוּר אֵשׁ לְעֵת פָּנֶיךָ יְיָ בְּאַפּוֹ יְבַלְּעֵם וְתֹאכְלֵם אֵשׁ |
| 11) Their offspring You will destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of man. |
יא. פִּרְיָמוֹ מֵאֶרֶץ תְּאַבֵּד וְזַרְעָם מִבְּנֵי אָדָם |
| 12) For they intended evil against You; they devised a plot, but they are unable. |
יב. כִּי־נָטוּ עָלֶיךָ רָעָה חָשְׁבוּ מְזִמָּה בַּל־יוּכָלוּ |
| 13) For You will make them turn their back; with Your bowstrings You will aim at their faces. |
יג. כִּי־תָשִׁיתֵמוֹ שֵׁכֶם בְּמֵיתָרֶיךָ תְּכוֹנֵן עַל־פְּנֵיהֶם |
| 14) Be exalted, O Lord, in Your strength; we will sing and make music of Your might. |
יד. רוּמָה יְיָ בְּעֻזֶּךָ נָשִׁירָה וּנְזַמְּרָה גְּבוּרָתֶךָ |
Chapter 22
| 1) For the conductor, on “The Doe of the Morning.” A psalm of David. |
א. לַמְנַצֵּחַ עַל־אַיֶּלֶת הַשַּׁחַר מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד |
| 2. My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Far from my salvation are the words of my roaring. |
ב. אֵלִי אֵלִי לָמָה עֲזַבְתָּנִי רָחוֹק מִישׁוּעָתִי דִּבְרֵי שַׁאֲגָתִי |
| 3. My God, I call by day, but You do not answer; and by night, but there is no quiet for me. |
ג. אֱלֹהַי אֶקְרָא יוֹמָם וְלֹא תַעֲנֶה וְלַיְלָה וְלֹא־דוּמִיָּה לִי |
| 4. Yet You are holy, enthroned upon the praises of Israel. |
ד. וְאַתָּה קָדוֹשׁ יוֹשֵׁב תְּהִלּוֹת יִשְׂרָאֵל |
| 5. In You our fathers trusted; they trusted, and You rescued them. |
ה. בְּךָ בָטְחוּ אֲבוֹתֵינוּ בָּטְחוּ וַתְּפַלְּטֵמוֹ |
| 6. To You they cried out and were saved; in You they trusted and were not put to shame. |
ו. אֵלֶיךָ זָעֲקוּ וְנִמְלָטוּ בְּךָ בָטְחוּ וְלֹא־בוֹשׁוּ |
| 7. But I am a worm and not a man, scorn of mankind and despised of people. |
ז. וְאָנֹכִי תוֹלַעַת וְלֹא־אִישׁ חֶרְפַּת אָדָם וּבְזוּי עָם |
| 8. All who see me mock me; they open wide their lips, they shake their heads. |
ח. כָּל־רֹאַי יַלְעִגוּ לִי יַפְטִירוּ בְשָׂפָה יָנִיעוּ רֹאשׁ |
| 9. “He trusted in the Lord — let Him deliver him; let Him rescue him, since He delights in him.” |
ט. גֹּל אֶל־יְיָ יְפַלְּטֵהוּ יַצִּילֵהוּ כִּי חָפֵץ בּוֹ |
| 10. For You drew me forth from the womb; You made me secure upon my mother’s breasts. |
י. כִּי־אַתָּה גֹחִי מִבָּטֶן מַבְטִיחִי עַל־שְׁדֵי אִמִּי |
| 11. Upon You I have been cast from birth; from my mother’s womb You have been my God. |
יא. עָלֶיךָ הָשְׁלַכְתִּי מֵרָחֶם מִבֶּטֶן אִמִּי אֵלִי אָתָּה |
| 12. Be not far from me, for distress is near, for there is none to help. |
יב. אַל־תִּרְחַק מִמֶּנִּי כִּי־צָרָה קְרוֹבָה כִּי־אֵין עוֹזֵר |
| 13. Many bulls surround me; mighty ones of Bashan encircle me. |
יג. סְבָבוּנִי פָּרִים רַבִּים אַבִּירֵי בָשָׁן כִּתְּרוּנִי |
| 14. They open their mouths against me like a tearing, roaring lion. |
יד. פָּצוּ עָלַי פִּיהֶם אַרְיֵה טֹרֵף וְשֹׁאֵג |
| 15. Like water I am poured out, and all my bones are disjointed; my heart has become like wax, melting within my innards. |
טו. כַּמַּיִם נִשְׁפַּכְתִּי וְהִתְפָּרְדוּ כָל־עַצְמוֹתָי הָיָה לִבִּי כַּדּוֹנָג נָמֵס בְּתוֹךְ מֵעָי |
| 16. My strength is dried up like baked clay, and my tongue cleaves to my jaws; You lay me in the dust of death. |
טז. יָבֵשׁ כַּחֶרֶשׂ כֹּחִי וּלְשׁוֹנִי מֻדְבָּק מַלְקוֹחָי וְלַעֲפַר מָוֶת תִּשְׁפְּתֵנִי |
| 17. For dogs surround me; a band of evildoers encircle me; like a lion [they are at] my hands and my feet. |
יז. כִּי סְבָבוּנִי כְּלָבִים עֲדַת מְרֵעִים הִקִּיפוּנִי כָּאֲרִי יָדַי וְרַגְלָי |
| 18. I can count all my bones; they look and stare at me. |
יח. אֲסַפֵּר כָּל־עַצְמוֹתָי הֵמָּה יַבִּיטוּ יִרְאוּ בִי |
| 19. They divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots. |
יט. יְחַלְּקוּ בְגָדַי לָהֶם וְעַל־לְבוּשִׁי יַפִּילוּ גוֹרָל |
| 20. But You, O Lord, be not far; O my strength, hasten to help me. |
כ. וְאַתָּה יְיָ אַל־תִּרְחָק אֵילוּתִי לְעֶזְרָתִי חוּשָׁה |
| 21. Rescue my soul from the sword, my precious one from the power of the dog. |
כא. הַצִּילָה מֵחֶרֶב נַפְשִׁי מִיַּד־כֶּלֶב יְחִידָתִי |
| 22. Save me from the lion’s mouth; and from the horns of wild oxen — You have answered me. |
כב. הוֹשִׁיעֵנִי מִפִּי אַרְיֵה וּמִקַּרְנֵי רֵמִים עֲנִיתָנִי |
| 23. I will declare Your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will praise You. |
כג. אֲסַפְּרָה שִׁמְךָ לְאֶחָי בְּתוֹךְ קָהָל אֲהַלְלֶךָּ |
| 24. You who fear the Lord, praise Him! All the seed of Jacob, honor Him! Stand in awe of Him, all the seed of Israel! |
כד. יִרְאֵי יְיָ הַלְלוּהוּ כָּל־זֶרַע יַעֲקֹב כַּבְּדוּהוּ וְגוּרוּ מִמֶּנּוּ כָּל־זֶרַע יִשְׂרָאֵל |
| 25. For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the poor, nor hidden His face from him; but when he cried to Him, He heard. |
כה. כִּי לֹא־בָזָה וְלֹא שִׁקַּץ עֱנוּת עָנִי וְלֹא־הִסְתִּיר פָּנָיו מִמֶּנּוּ וּבְשַׁוְּעוֹ אֵלָיו שָׁמֵעַ |
| 26. From You is my praise in the great congregation; I will fulfill my vows before those who fear Him. |
כו. מֵאִתְּךָ תְהִלָּתִי בְּקָהָל רָב נְדָרַי אֲשַׁלֵּם נֶגֶד יְרֵאָיו |
| 27. The humble shall eat and be satisfied; those who seek the Lord shall praise Him — may your heart live forever! |
כז. יֹאכְלוּ עֲנָוִים וְיִשְׂבָּעוּ יְהַלְלוּ יְיָ דֹּרְשָׁיו יְחִי לְבַבְכֶם לָעַד |
| 28. All the ends of the earth shall remember and return to the Lord; all the families of the nations shall bow before You. |
כח. יִזְכְּרוּ וְיָשֻׁבוּ אֶל־יְיָ כָּל־אַפְסֵי־אָרֶץ וְיִשְׁתַּחֲווּ לְפָנֶיךָ כָּל־מִשְׁפְּחוֹת גּוֹיִם |
| 29. For the kingdom belongs to the Lord, and He rules over the nations. |
כט. כִּי לַי־יָ הַמְּלוּכָה וּמֹשֵׁל בַּגּוֹיִם |
| 30. All the prosperous of the earth shall eat and bow down; before Him shall kneel all who descend to the dust, though his soul has not lived. |
ל. אָכְלוּ וַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּ כָּל־דִּשְׁנֵי־אֶרֶץ לְפָנָיו יִכְרְעוּ כָּל־יוֹרְדֵי עָפָר וְנַפְשׁוֹ לֹא חִיָּה |
| 31. A seed shall serve Him; it shall be told of the Lord to the coming generation. |
לא. זֶרַע יַעַבְדֶנּוּ יְסֻפַּר לַי־יָ לַדּוֹר |
| 32. They shall come and declare His righteousness to a people yet to be born — that He has done it. |
לב. יָבֹאוּ וְיַגִּידוּ צִדְקָתוֹ לְעַם נוֹלָד כִּי עָשָׂה |
